Aged care funding changed recently, and many families aren't sure what it means for meals. Here's a simple guide.
What is Support at Home?
Support at Home is the Australian Government's in-home aged care program. It started on 1 November 2025 and replaced Home Care Packages. It helps eligible older people get services, which can include meals, so they can keep living at home.
I had a Home Care Package. What now?
Home Care Package recipients have moved to Support at Home. Talk to your provider about using your funding for meals, and ask them to contact us.
Am I eligible?
Eligibility is decided by an aged care assessment through My Aged Care (1800 200 422). If you're already approved, your provider can tell you whether meals are included in your plan.
What will I pay?
Support at Home clients pay a contribution towards their meals. The amount depends on your circumstances, and your provider will confirm it. Your provider arranges billing with us.
What about CHSP?
Eligible CHSP clients in Wyndham and Maribyrnong can receive our meals through our partnership with AVWA (Australian Vietnamese Women's Association). Ask your coordinator about a referral.
